About Our Site

ATechnologySociety was formed to offer a unique reference point on advice on the safety of technology and its effect on society.

During the late 17th century, moving onto the 18th century, we were mainly a rural and farming community. Then there was the industrial revolution, where the use of coal and steam powered machinery produced goods for our daily living. So, we have moved from a rural society, an industrial society and now a society where mobiles phones, laptops, computers and all kinds of new gadgets mean that we assume we can't survive without them.

How many of us have lost our mobile phones or it has run out of battery and we panicked, because we could not get in touch with someone immediately? In the old days we only worried if did not hear from someone after a few days. Now we can be concerned if we don't hear from someone in a few hours!

The mobile phone and modern technology has basically, changed the way we think, and the emphasis is very much on how we communicate this minute, not the next few hours, days or weeks.

To use the title of this site, it has very much become a technological society. The site describes topics around the area of how technology has affected us in a number of areas, from describing past and future technology advances, advice on technological subjects, and the danger of technology and how we can address these. Basically, "A Technology Society" describes how technology can enhance our daily living.

Our concern was that there was no single UK resource for interesting features and practical advice on this subject.

Our features and articles are written by experts - who have experience, or a particular interest in this area.
